Paulson: "How did we ever get here?"

Paulson's bailout plan would bring "biggest expansion of Federal power over the financial system since the Great Depression".

Paulson asks, "How did we ever get here?"  Cuz y'see, it's all just a big MISTAKE.  Y'know, a screw up.  It's not like this is some kind PLANNED large scale ponzi scheme SCAM to leave the American public holding a bag full of DEBT while Paulson's banking buddies get insanely rich doing absolutely NOTHING except pushing some numbers around.  Of course not!  Is it?
